Basra Society for Research and Media on Women Basra Society for Research and Media on Women (BSRMW) is a non-governmental organization based in Basra, Iraq. The unit engages PRIMARILY in research and media work on women in the south of Iraq (Basra/Amara/ Nasirryia) in general and on those in Basra in particular; and SECONDARILY in training and educating women in the region, and restoring their rights and activities in order to bring a qualitative change in their position in the new Iraqi society.
The organization publishes Al-Jenubiya (southern woman) newspaper online that covers women's issues in the region and promotes the participation of women in the public life of Iraq.
